        • 2 tbsp brown sugar

        • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

        • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

        • 1 tbsp lemon juice

        • 1 tsp vanilla extract

        • 2 tbsp melted butter

        • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for thickening)

      For the Cobbler Topping

        • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

        • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

        • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

        • 1/4 tsp salt

        • 1/2 cup milk

        • 1/3 cup melted butter

        • Optional: 1 tbsp coarse sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

👩‍🍳 STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the Apples

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    1. Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch slices (about 6 cups).

    1. In a large bowl, combine:
        • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

        • 2 tbsp brown sugar

        • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

        • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

        • 2 tbsp flour

        • 1 tbsp lemon juice

        • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    1. Add the apples and toss until every slice is coated and glossy.

    1. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

    1. Drizzle 2 tbsp melted butter over the apples.

2. Make the Cobbler Topping

    1. In a medium bowl, whisk together:
        • 1 1/4 cups flour

        • 1/2 cup sugar

        • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

        • 1/4 tsp salt

    1. Pour in the milk and melted butter.

    1. Stir until the batter is smooth and thick but pourable — like pancake batter.

    1. Spoon the batter over the apples in rustic dollops.

    1. Don’t try to cover every corner — the gaps allow the apples to bubble through.

    1. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if you want extra crunch.

3. Bake

    1. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.

    1. If the top browns too quickly, loosely tent with foil.

    1. Let cool 10–15 minutes so the filling can thicken.

4. Serve

Best served warm with:

    • Vanilla ice cream

    • Fresh whipped cream

    • A drizzle of caramel
