Description

Chocolate Banana Pops are a delightful and simple treat that combines the rich, creamy decadence of chocolate with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas. Making these pops is an enjoyable experience as they require minimal ingredients and minimal time in the kitchen.

Ingredients

    1. Bananas (2-3 ripe but firm)

    1. Chocolate chips (1 cup, semisweet or dark, depending on your preference)

    1. Coconut oil (1-2 tablespoons, optional for thinning the chocolate)

    1. Popsicle sticks (6-8, depending on the number of pops)

    1. Toppings (optional, such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or crushed graham crackers)

Instructions

    1. Prepare the Bananas:
        • Peel the bananas and cut them in half. If you prefer, you can cut them into smaller pieces, about 1 to 2 inches long, to create bite-sized pops.

    1. Insert the Sticks:
        • Take your popsicle sticks and gently insert one into the cut end of each banana piece. Make sure it goes in far enough to secure the banana but be careful not to push it through the other end.

    1. Freeze the Bananas:
        • Place the prepared banana pops on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure they are spaced apart to prevent sticking.

        • Freeze the bananas for about 1-2 hours, or until they are firm.

    1. Melt the Chocolate:
        • While the bananas are freezing, melt the chocolate chips. You can do this in a microwave or on a stovetop.
            • Microwave method: Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.

            • Stovetop method: Use a double boiler or a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Stir the chips occasionally until melted.

        • If you find the chocolate is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil to thin it out and make it easier to coat the bananas.

    1. Coat the Frozen Bananas:
        • Once the bananas are frozen and the chocolate is melted, remove the bananas from the freezer.

        • Dip each banana pop into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to help coat it evenly if necessary. Make sure to cover all sides for a good chocolate shell.

    1. Add Toppings (Optional):
        • If you want to add toppings, immediately sprinkle them onto the chocolate-coated bananas before the chocolate sets. Some great options include chopped nuts, sprinkles, crushed cookies, or shredded coconut.

    1. Freeze Again:
        • After coating and topping the bananas, place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and return them to the freezer.

        • Allow the chocolate to firm up for about 30 minutes.

    1. Serve:
        • Once the chocolate has set, your Chocolate Banana Pops are ready to serve! Enjoy them straight from the freezer. They are best enjoyed within a few days for optimal taste and texture.

Storage:

    • Store any leftover Chocolate Banana Pops in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week. Just remember to separate layers with parchment paper if stacking.

Enjoy your delicious and healthy treats!
