Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¾ teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 pound ground lamb or ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
    ¼ cup pitted black olives.
  • 2 pitas, halved, split, and warmed
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1 plum tomato, sliced
  • 4 leaves romaine lettuce
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

To prepare burgers, pulse onion in a food processor until it is coarsely chopped. Transfer to a large bowl; add lamb or beef, pepper, 1 teaspoon oregano, and salt. Gently mix the mixture with your hands just until combined (do not overmix). Shape into four ½-inch-thick patties.

Heat a grill pan over medium heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add patties; cook for 3 minutes on each side or until done (160 degrees F).

Divide pita bread evenly among four serving plates; top each with 1 patty, ½ cup yogurt sauce, cucumber, tomato, olives, and lettuce. Serve immediately.

Makes 4 servings (serving size: 1 pita half and 1 patty)
