Description

This creamy Spicy Pumpkin Pie Smoothie combines pumpkin puree, frozen banana, Greek yogurt and warm fall spices with a splash of orange juice. It comes together in about five minutes for an easy autumn breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe banana, frozen
  • ½ cup 100% pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup evaporated milk
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey, optional
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Add the evaporated milk and orange juice to a blender.
  2. Add the pumpkin puree, Greek yogurt, frozen banana, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon.
  3. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the blender if necessary.
  4. Taste the smoothie. Add the honey if additional sweetness is needed and blend briefly again.
  5. If the smoothie is too thick, add a small splash of evaporated milk. If you prefer it thicker, add a little more frozen banana or frozen pumpkin puree.
  6. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Garnish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice if desired.

Notes

Recipe Notes

  • Use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • Peel and slice the banana before freezing for easier blending.
  • The honey is optional. Taste the smoothie first because the ripeness of the banana will affect the sweetness.
  • For a thicker smoothie, freeze portions of pumpkin puree in an ice cube tray before blending.
  • For additional protein, a scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder can be added, but additional liquid may be needed.
  • The smoothie is best served immediately after blending.
