The Mai Tai cocktail is a tropical drink that instantly transports you to a beachy paradise. This iconic cocktail originated in the 1940s at the Trader Vic's restaurant in California and has since become a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts.
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces white rum
1/2 ounce dark rum
3/4 ounce orange curaçao
3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 ounce orgeat
Garnish with lime wheel and mint sprig
Instructions
1 - Gather the ingredients - light and dark rum, orange curaçao, lime juice, orgeat syrup, and a maraschino cherry
2 - Fill a shaker with ice cubes
3 - Pour 1/4 cup of light rum, 1/4 cup of dark rum, 3/4 oz of orange curaçao, 3/4 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1/2 oz of orgeat syrup into the shaker
4 - Shake the ingredients in the shaker for 10-15 seconds
5 - Fill a glass with crushed ice
Pour contents from the shaker over the ice in the glass and stir gently
