Ingredients

Scale
    • 1 lb lean ground beef (80% lean/20% fat (or greater))

    • 1 lb ground pork
    • ¼ large white onion, finely minced
    • 3-4 large cloves of garlic, finely minced

    • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
    • ½ cup Italian breadcrumbs
    • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 jar of Marinara Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

🧆 How to Make Cheese-Stuffed Meatball Subs (Step-by-Step)

1. Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Ground beef and ground pork

  • Diced onion and minced garlic

  • Grated Parmesan cheese

  • Breadcrumbs

  • Eggs and milk

  • Italian seasoning

  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Mix everything gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined—don’t overmix.

2. Portion the Meatballs

  • Transfer the mixture to a clean surface and flatten it evenly.

  • Divide it into 12 equal portions.

  • Place a few pieces of cheese stick (or cubes) in the center of each portion.

  • Wrap the meat around the cheese and form into firm balls.

  • Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

3. Bake the Meatballs

  • Position the baking sheet on the top rack of the oven.

  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.

  • Flip each meatball with a spatula.

  • Return to the oven and bake for another 8–10 minutes, or until the center reaches 160°F.

4. Simmer in Sauce

  • Remove meatballs and let them rest on the baking sheet.

  • Drain off excess grease with a paper towel, if needed.

  • Pour marinara sauce into a skillet over medium-low heat.

  • Gently add the meatballs and simmer for 4–5 minutes, turning to coat them in sauce.

5. Build and Broil the Subs

  • Slice hoagie rolls and place them on a lined baking sheet.

  • Add 2–3 meatballs per roll, plus a spoonful of sauce.

  • Top with 2–3 slices of provolone cheese.

  • Return to the oven and broil for 3–5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve and Enjoy

Remove from the oven and serve warm with your favorite sides. These subs are melty, savory, and perfect for any sandwich lover!
