Substitutions
While the ingredients list for this salad is relatively short, there are a few key items that can be substituted to make the dish more accessible. For example, the raspberry vinaigrette can be replaced with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice dressing. Fresh berries can also be swapped for dried fruits, such as raisins or cranberries. And finally, the greens can be substituted for any type of lettuce or greens that you have on hand. With a few simple substitutions, Refreshing Mixed Berry Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette can easily be tailored to your taste and dietary needs.
Variations
The best part about this salad is that it can be made with any combination of berries that you like. I usually use blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries, but you could also use strawberries or cherries. The key to making this salad is to use fresh berries that are ripe and in season. If you use frozen berries, they will release too much juice and make the salad watery. To make the dressing, simply combine equal parts raspberry vinegar and olive oil. Season it with salt and pepper to taste. You can also add a tablespoon of honey if you like. Simply mix all of the ingredients together and enjoy!
