SYRNIKI Europen PANCAKES
Syrniki are these cute, thick pancakes from Ukraine and Russia, made with sweet cheese. They might seem simple, but trust me, they're soft, fluffy, and seriously tasty.
Ingredients you will be using to make SYRNIKI
- large egg: Eggs are a fundamental ingredient in Syniki, a traditional Russian dish. In this recipe, the egg serves as a binding agent, helping to hold the ingredients together while also providing moisture and richness to the dish.
- ricotta cheese: Ricotta cheese is a soft, creamy cheese made from whey leftover from the production of other cheeses. In Syniki, ricotta adds a delicate texture and a slightly tangy flavor. It contributes to the richness of the dish and complements the other ingredients well.
- vegetable oil: Vegetable oil is used for frying the Syniki. It helps to achieve a crispy exterior while keeping the inside moist and tender. The neutral flavor of vegetable oil allows the other ingredients to shine through without overpowering them.
- pure vanilla extract: Vanilla extract adds a subtle sweetness and aroma to the Syniki. While not a traditional ingredient in savory dishes, the hint of vanilla enhances the overall flavor profile of the dish, providing a delightful contrast to the savory elements.
- all-purpose flour: Flour serves as a binding agent and helps to thicken the batter for Syniki. It also contributes to the texture, giving the pancakes a light and fluffy consistency. All-purpose flour is versatile and commonly used in cooking and baking.
- sugar: Sugar adds sweetness to the Syniki, balancing out the flavors and complementing the natural sweetness of the ricotta cheese. It also helps to create a caramelized crust when frying the pancakes, adding an extra layer of flavor and texture.
- salt: Salt is essential for enhancing the flavors of the other ingredients in the Syniki. It helps to balance the sweetness and brings out the savory notes, resulting in a well-rounded and delicious dish.
- honey, for serving: Honey is drizzled over the cooked Syniki as a sweet topping. It adds a touch of natural sweetness and complements the flavors of the pancakes, creating a delicious contrast between the savory pancakes and the sweet honey.
