Storage for the Triple Combination Souvlaki Skewers
You can store Triple Combination Souvlaki Skewers with Tzatziki in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Here are some guidelines for storing and reheating:
- Separate Skewers and Tzatziki: If possible, store the skewers and Tzatziki separately. Keep the skewers in an airtight container or wrap them in aluminum foil to maintain their moisture and prevent them from drying out.
- Tzatziki Storage: Store the Tzatziki in a separate airtight container. Due to its dairy content, Tzatziki may separate slightly upon refrigeration. Stir it gently before serving.
- Refrigerator Temperature: Keep the containers with the skewers and Tzatziki in the refrigerator at a temperature of 40°F (4°C) or lower.
- Reheating Skewers: To reheat the skewers, you can place them in a preheated oven at a low temperature (around 300°F or 150°C) for about 10 minutes or until they are heated through. Alternatively, you can briefly microwave them, but be careful not to overheat, as this can dry out the meat.
- Tzatziki Freshness: The Tzatziki may thicken slightly in the fridge due to the yogurt. If needed, you can thin it out with a little lemon juice or water before serving.
Please note that while you can store and reheat the skewers and Tzatziki, they are at their best when enjoyed freshly grilled and made. Over time, the texture and flavor may change slightly, so it's recommended to consume them within a day or two for the best culinary experience.
Top tips to know when making the Triple Combination Souvlaki Skewers
Here are 10 top tips to help you master the art of making Triple Combination Souvlaki Skewers with Tzatziki:
- Choose Quality Meats: Use high-quality cuts of chicken, pork, and lamb for the best flavor and tenderness.
- Even Cubes: Cut the meat into evenly sized cubes to ensure uniform cooking and prevent overcooking of smaller pieces.
- Marinate Generously: Allow the meat to marinate for at least a few hours, or ideally overnight, to infuse maximum flavor. Keep it refrigerated during marination.
- Soak Wooden Skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading to prevent them from burning on the grill.
- Alternate Ingredients: Thread the meat pieces onto the skewers, alternating between chicken, pork, and lamb for a colorful and flavorful mix.
- Don't Overcrowd: Leave a little space between the meat cubes on the skewers to allow for even cooking and better grill marks.
- Hot Grill: Preheat your grill to high heat and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill with Care: Grill the skewers over direct heat, turning occasionally until they are cooked through and have a nice char, usually 10-15 minutes.
- Rest Before Serving: Allow the skewers to rest for a few minutes after grilling to let the juices redistribute, ensuring they stay juicy.
- Serve with Fresh Tzatziki: Pair the skewers with homemade Tzatziki sauce, fresh pita bread, and a Greek salad for a complete and authentic experience.
With these tips, your Triple Combination Souvlaki Skewers with Tzatziki will turn out tender, flavorful, and perfect for your Mediterranean-inspired feast. Enjoy your culinary adventure!

Notes
Greek Souvlaki is traditionally made with chicken, lamb, or pork. In these Triple Combination Skewers, we have prepared all three meats and combined them onto one skewer and they are simply fabulous. The Tzatziki sauce brings all the flavors together. These are wonderful served with a nice Greek salad and an ice-cold beer.
Tips: If you are not a fan of lamb, tender beef cubes such as beef tenderloin or ribeye can be substituted. The best flavor will be achieved by marinating wooden skewers and each of the meats for 2 hours. If using zip lock bags, place the sealed bags into a casserole dish in the refrigerator just in case of leakage.
